Arsenal has accomplished the signing of Ivory Coast winger Nicolas Pepe from Lille for a reported fee of £72m, the transfer deal made the Ivorian their club-record signing.
Pepe signed five years contract with the Gunners that will keep him at the Emirates till 2024.
Couples of top European clubs had shown interest in signing the highly-rated and talented Ivorian player, but he chooses to play alongside Alexandre Lacazette, Mesut Ozil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the former club-record signing was Alexandre Lacazette who the Gunners bought from Lyon for a reported fee of £56m.
Arsenal manager Unai Emery said: Contracting a top-class winger has happened to be one of our key objectives in this transfer window and I’m happy he’s joining. He will add velocity, strength and creativity, with the intention of bringing more goals to our team.
In total Lille have spent £42.4m on new players signing this summer, with Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen’s transfer move from Belgian side RSC Charleroi, made him their biggest expenditure this summer for a fee of £10.8m.
