Lionel Messi Argentina captain had been banned from international football for three months, after saying the Copa America is corrupt.
The 32-year-old Barcelona forward, Messi got sent off in their third-place playoff match against Chile, then later said the competition was fixed for Brazil.
He was fined $50,000 (£41,121) by the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol).
Messi has seven days to make an appeal to Conmebol decision for suspending him.
The ban means Messi would not feature in Argentina friendlies against Chile, Mexico and Germany.
Messi was given a red card in the 37th minute against Chile, following a clash between him and Gary Medel, who was also shown a red card.
According to BBC News, Messi said: “We don’t have to be a member of this corruption, they have bestowed us a lack of respect throughout this competition“.
“Unhappily, the corruption, the referees, they don’t allow people to enjoy football, they ravaged it a bit.”
