Roma has confirmed the departure of their midfielder Steven Nzonzi who joined the Turkish champions Galatasaray on loan with an option to buy.
Galatasaray has three option in the transfer deal, the first option is to make Nzonzi’s loan permanent for €16m but will have to sign the player before June 30 2020.
The second option is to increase the loan deal for a further 12 months for a fee of €500,000.
If the second option is activated, the club can make the agreement permanent, prior to its summing-up at the end of June 2021, for a transfer fee of €13m.
The 30-year-old was part of France international team that won the 2018 Fifa World Cup in Russia, a month later he joined Roma from Sevilla for an initial fee of €26.65m.
Despite obtaining 39 appearances in all competitions and finding the back of the net once for Roma last season, he failed to absolutely impose himself on the Giallorossi’s engine room as they finish sixth on the Seria A table.
