Napoli signs Hirving Lozano and includes €130 million release clause.

PSV Eindhoven winger Hirving Lozano has officially confirmed a five-year contract deal with Napoli, becoming the club most expensive signing at €40m.

The Mexico international flew in on Tuesday evening to had his medical on Wednesday at the Villa Stuart clinic in Rome.

He sets a new all-time club record for the Italian side, at a reported cost of €38m plus bonuses.

Lozano had been on Napoli radar since January, amidst negotiations stalling on all summer, it was eventually settled after PSV was knocked out of the Champions League preliminary rounds.

It was understood that Lozano has begun the season with PSV, before he picked up a knock against ADO Den Haag in his recent Eredivisie outing that might rule him out of Napoli’s Serie A opener against Fiorentina on August 24.

He joins Napoli manager Carlo Ancelotti’s with Napoli seemed to want to reinforce their attacks before the new season kick-off, the Seria A giants anticipating a good season as they hope to close the 11 point gap between them and the titleholder Juventus.

The Partenopei has couples of players to choose from in their attacking position to trident their attack in the upcoming season with the likes Arkadiusz Milik up in front as a striker, Dries Mertens who plays behind the striker and captain Lorenzo Insigne on the wing with Hirving Lozano.

Lozano began his career with Pachuca as a teen and assisted them to the 2016 Clausura trophy, their sixth league title, and the 2016-17 Concacaf Champions League trophy.

He joined PSV in 2016 summer transfer, although it wasn’t before his initial major international tournaments, with the former Mexico manager Juan Carlos Osorio selecting him in his Confederations Cup squad.

Lozano scored 40 goals in 79 games for PSV and converting the Dutch title in 2017-18.

Lozano made his mark in the 2018 Fifa World Cup in Russia after scoring a notching goal in their triumph over the defending champions Germany.

He went onto starting all four of Mexico’s matches in Russia, he wasn’t part of the Mexico squad that won the summer’s Gold Cup due to an injury, he is rated as the most significant player for Tata Martino’s team looking towards Qatar 2022.

Lozano will become the fifth Mexican to play in Serie A following Miguel Layun, Rafa Marquez, Hector Moreno and Carlos Salcedo.
