Lokomotiv Moscow confirm the signing of João Mario from Inter Milan on loan.

Lokomotiv Moscow has completed the signing Portuguese midfielder Joao Mario from Inter Milan on a season-long loan.

It was understood that the transfer deal includes an option to buy the player for an undisclosed fee.

The deals reunite Joao Mario with his national teammate Eder that scored the vital last-minute goal for Portugal against France in the Euro 2016 Final which ended 1:0.

Joao Mario stated after the confirmation of the transfer deal: “he said he has joined a great club after officially quitting Inter for the Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow.

He added: “I’m very happy to join Lokomotiv because it’s a great club, they’ve signed many popular and skilled players. I asked Manuel Fernandes and Eder concerning the club during our international duty for the Portuguese national team.

Eder told me before the transfer, that Lokomotiv is a great club with a wonderful atmosphere. Their participation in the Champions League is also a key factor for me joining the club.

The 26-year-old joined Inter from Sporting cp for €42m in 2016 following his Euro 2016 triumph with Portugal but has struggled to prove himself, making 69 competitive appearances for the Nerazzurri in three seasons, scoring just four goals.

Joao Mario states in a statement that “I’m confident we’ll get good results. I’m looking to the future with motivation and I’m ready to get out on the pitch as soon as Saturday.”
