Real Madrid is reportedly interested in signing Premier League outfit Chelsea’s top-rated striker Tammy Abraham, according to a report published in Spanish news outlet Don Balon.
The 22-year-old is in extraordinary form for the Blues in the league competition where he is the joint-highest scorer with seven goals tallying with Manchester City striker Kun Sergio Aguero.
Three of those goals attained in Chelsea’s last match against Wolverhampton Wanderers where he was too hot to hold for the home team’s defensive line, the loss marked their second defeats of the season 5-2 to the Blues at the Molineux Stadium.
It was that Abraham’s excellent display which attracted interest from the likes of Real President Florentino Perez who is now reportedly determined in bringing the England international to Santiago Bernabeu in the near future.
After the weekend match at the Molineux Stadium, the striker drops his international hint as he said he’s open to representing the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
He said: “I have heard the talks and I’ve not really been focused on that yet, I think when the time comes, the time comes. We never know.
He added: “You can never say never, whatever comes first really. It is about focusing on Chelsea and hopefully scoring goals and getting victories.”
In 2017, Amaju Pinnick, president of the Nigerian Football Federation and a childhood buddy of Abraham’s father, alleged that the then 19-year-old Abraham was ready to play for the Nigerian Super Eagles.
While those allegations were quickly dismissed by the Chelsea striker and made his England debut soon after, Abraham’s newest statements seem to have reopened the door for his Nigeria switch.
Victor Moses, Alex Iwobi (both Nigeria) and Wilfried Zaha (Ivory Coast) have all shunned England eligibility to play for the countries of their birth after playing youth team or, in the case of Zaha, international football for England. Abraham was born in central London.
Abraham, who is expected to make his Champions League debut on Tuesday night in their first group stage game against Valencia at the Stamford Bridge.
He said of a potential debut: “I have grown up watching big stars playing in the Champions League, and to play in it myself would obviously be a dream.”
“Players like the gaffer (Frank Lampard), Didier Drogba and John Terry are great legends. They have been there and done it. I would like to follow the same path.
“I am delighted to be scoring goals for a team I have grown up loving and have always wanted to play for. It is just an amazing feeling and hasn’t kicked in yet.
“Hopefully this is the beginning of a great career at Chelsea. I’m living the dream and I need to keep it running.”
The Spanish giants Real Madrid are also open to signing Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante after the club manager Zinedine Zidane drops the transfer hint of the 28-year-old France international to their wish-list for next year.
Kante is generally considered as one of European football’s top holding midfielders and he has been a consistent feature in the Chelsea FC side after he joined the Blues in 2016 from Leicester City.
The same report also declares that Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois have both secretly commented that Kante would be an exceptional signing for the Spanish outfit.
Real Madrid boss Zidane is a long-term fan of Kante and he promises to land him in the Spanish club next year.
Kante has only started one Premier League game for Chelsea so far this season due to injury.
The former Leicester City star has won the Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League since his switch to Stamford Bridge back in the summer of 2016, just after he helped the Foxes to win the Premier League title.
